PATRICE CASSEDY

Playwright

Patrice Cassedy’s “Detroit Blues” has been described as “high drama laced with moments of beautiful humanity.” The historical, racial justice, drama, with music by Mike Cassedy, was produced in Washington, DC and New York City, and as an Actor’s Equity reading directed by Obie winner, Leah C. Gardiner. Patrice’s work has also been seen on stages in Brooklyn (“War, She Said)”, Los Angeles and Missouri (“Bank Shot,” a musical for which she wrote the book with Julie Weiner, lyrics, and Richard Plotkin, music). A graduate of Burbank’s New Musicals Inc. in book and lyrics, Patrice was a finalist for a San Diego Foundation Creative Catalyst Fellowship and an Elizabeth George Foundation Individual Grant. Her plays have been read at EST/LA, Playwrights Project/Diversionary Theatre (San Diego) and at the Great Plains and Southampton Playwriting theatre conferences. She contributed “The Celebrated Dottoressa Bassi” to the 2019 “365 Women a Year” project. Patrice provides dramaturgical support for plays from Shakespeare to contemporary.

MIKE CASSEDY

COMPOSER

Mike Cassedy is a Brooklyn-based composer and pianist. He received his Master of Fine Arts in Media Scoring from the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema at Brooklyn College and his Bachelor of Music from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California. Theater Composing Credits include: Mac Wellman’s: The Invention of Tragedy (The Flea Theater 2019) Mac Wellman’s: The Lesser Magoo (Brooklyn College, 2019), Manufacturing Mischief: A Noam Chomsky Puppet Play (Pedro Reyes at The Tank, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, The Power Plant Art Gallery/Canadian Stage, Serpentine Gallery London, Museo Jumex Mexico City, Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival, The Night of Philosophy at the Brooklyn Public Library, the Savannah College of Art and Design), Daredevil (The Brick, 2014), Detroit Blues (Mt. Vernon Theater, 2014), Him (Walkerspace, 2008). Film and Television Scoring Credits include: Sidelined (Short Film 2019), Change for Change (Short Film 2019), The Movie House on Main (Documentary 2018), Madre Maria (Short Film 2018), Sucker (Short Film 2018), Barren (Short Film 2018), Half Life (TV Series 2018-2019), 16 Words or Less (Short Film 2017).
